Workshop
What to do when you are injured at work.

The goal of this workshop is: To help corrections staff understand their rights and available benefits after a work-related injury so they feel confident knowing what steps to take if an injury occurs.

Objectives:

    • Learn what types of work-related injuries are covered under the law.

    • Gain a clear understanding of the benefits available to you after an on-duty injury.
    • Discover the key steps you must take to protect your rights after an on-duty injury.

Workshop Description:  This workshop is designed to educate corrections staff about the full range of benefits available to them if they are injured on the job. Participants will learn about their rights under Minnesota’s workers’ compensation system, including wage-loss, medical, and rehabilitation benefits. The session will also cover eligibility for PERA or MSRS duty disability benefits for those whose injuries prevent them from returning to work, as well as the potential for third-party liability claims when someone other than the employer is responsible for the injury. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how to navigate these systems and protect their financial and legal interests after a work-related injury.
