Stages of Change:
Transtheoretical Model

This 3-hour workshop will help participants become exposed and familiar with The Stages of Change (Transtheoretical) model that can be integrated into a wide range of client contact approaches. This workshop teaches how to help clients you work with identify their problem behavior, get motivated to change, and progress through the Stages to make and maintain changes and prevent a return to the negative behavior. We will explore the Stages of Change and how it relates to, and can be integrated into, your work with offenders, addicts, etc. We will examine each Stage of Change. Practical tips and tools will be provided along with role-playing that will help instill the considerable skills and knowledge needed to effectively help clients change.

Objectives: 

  • To learn about the Transtheoretical Model: What is it?
  • To gain a deeper understanding of the movement away from Criminal Behavior and Addiction.
  • To learn how to make an assessment using the Stages of Change model.
  • To learn and practice practical strategies for helping clients move through the Stages.
