This 3-hour workshop will focus initially on the fastest growing categories of substance use disorder we have in Minnesota currently, opioids (pharmaceutical and heroin) and methamphetamines. Working from whole State population and narrowing to specific population demographics (such as age, race and geographic location), we will examine trends and patterns of use.

The second portion of the presentation will focus on the symptom constellations for opioid and methamphetamine intoxication and withdrawal, with special focus made on differential diagnosis and common, co-morbid mental health and medical diagnosis……

 Objectives

  • Be introduced to opioids and methamphetamine use in Minnesota.
  • Learn about the psychosocial impact of opioids and methamphetamines on diverse populations.
  • Learn the warning signs of opioid and methamphetamine intoxication and withdrawal.
  • Learn about differential diagnosis.
